balance brought to life

How does psychotherapy work?

Psychotherapy helps you recognise your style of thinking and identify which feelings or experiences trigger unhelpful responses that may be preventing you from living life to the full. You can then develop ways to become more accepting and compassionate towards yourself and to increase your resilience and flexibility when encountering difficult feelings or situations.

Therapy can include cognitive behavioural, person centred and solution focused approaches, depending on the presenting issue. You may learn a variety of thinking skills, such as mindfulness or how to be more aware and accepting of your thoughts and feelings. Or you could develop practical skills that will help you refocus on what is most important to you, manage your time more efficiently or improve the quality of your sleep.
